  • 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, lightly pounded
  • 1/4 cup slivered sweet onion
  • 1 cup quartered mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup Marsala wine
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

What to Do

Tried this and love it!

Not a fan of Marsala wine. I used Merlot instead and it was delicious.

Which marsala do I use...sweet or dry?

Hello! The Test Kitchen used sweet, but you can use whichever you prefer. Enjoy!

I love chicken and mushrooms. Can this be made without marsala? I have other wines.

I made this recipe for a dinner party for 6 -- just increased the amounts. Everyone came back for seconds... Also, I did go heavy on the liquid ingredients and added more... so, I could create a pitcher of sauce to add to the dish. Also, I severed with angel hair pasta ... Perfect! Another Winner

This is so good. Delicious. Made it tonight and my husbNd also loved it.
