    Cranberry Mulled Wine

    Some versions of mulled wine simmer for a long time to develop the taste. My variation is speedy and still has plenty of flavor that everyone will love. If youngsters are around, make them a batch of this toasty beverage without the wine.

    What You'll Need

    • 2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
    • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    • 3 whole cloves
    • 3 whole allspice
    • 1 1/2 cup dry red wine

    What to Do

    1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
       
    2. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Discard whole spices. Stir in wine. Serve warm, and garnish, if desired, with cinnamon sticks.
