Is your family getting bored with French fries? Well, here's a sweet way to surprise them.
What You'll Need
- 1 1/2 pound sweet potatoes (3 to 4 sweet potatoes)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons maple or pancake syrup
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
What to Do
- Cut each potato in half lengthwise, then cut each half lengthwise into 3 wedges.
- In a medium skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Place half the potatoes in the hot oil, turning and cooking until potatoes are crispy and browned. Remove potatoes from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Place on a cookie sheet and keep warm in a 200 degree oven. Repeat with the remaining potatoes.
- In a shallow bowl, combine the syrup, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Using a pastry brush, brush the potato wedges with the syrup mixture; serve immediately.
- NOTE: You may need to add an additional 1/4 cup of oil for the second batch of potatoes.
