Versatile and flavorful Beefed up Chili Sauce is a zesty topper for our hot dogs as well as a classic starter for a traditional homemade chili.
What You'll Need
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 cups water
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 large onion, coarsely chopped
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
What to Do
- In a large saucepan, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until the beef is crumbled. Boil for 20 to 25 minutes, or until most of the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
Notes
Perfect as a topping for some hot dogs or, if you prefer to turn it into a traditional chili, just add a 16-ounce can of drained red kidney beans and cook until heated through. Serve in bowls topped with your favorite chili toppings.
