The tastes of Asia with the ease of good old Sunday pot roast. Now, that's our kind of cooking!
What You'll Need
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons dry white wine
- 3 tablespoons sweet and sour or duck sauce
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 tablespoons peanut oil
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 (3- to 3 ½-pound) beef roast
What to Do
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a small bowl, combine all ingredients except beef and stir well.
- Place beef in an 8-inch square baking dish and pour sauce over the top. Cook, uncovered, 1-1/2 to 2 hours or to desired doneness, basting occasionally.
- Remove meat from oven and slice thinly across grain. Serve with pan drippings.
Notes
To really enhance the flavor of the meat, let the roast marinate in the sauce for 2 to 3 hours or even overnight, turning it once halfway through so the whole roast gets the flavor.

What can I use in place of soy sauce? This sounds wonderful but I have an allergy.

Great question! You can replace the soy sauce with with Worcestershire sauce or one tsp salt with the remaining ingredients. Let us know how this turns out for you. We would love to hear your feedback!

Do not pass this recipe by! I made this recipe as a stove-top dinner with ground turkey and lots of green peppers from the garden, and white rice on the side. There is enough sauce for all of it! My boyfriend ate his dinner and all of the leftovers in one sitting. This recipe reaffirms my faith in Mr. Food!

This sounds really good. I would make the servings half that size though.
