Who doesn't love a good stir fry recipe every once in a while? It's quick, it's easy, and best of all, it's made with that "OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!" With just a touch of ginger, we've turned this Asian classic a restaurant-quality dish. So grab your chopsticks (or your fork, if you're so inclined) and dig in for a feast to remember.
What You'll Need
- 1 pound sirloin steak, chilled (see Note)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 6 green onions, cut diagonally into 1-inch pieces
- Warm cooked long-grain rice
What to Do
- Cut steak diagonally across the grain into wafer-thin slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Add ginger, and saut 2 minutes or until tan-colored. Add minced garlic, and saut 30 seconds. Add beef; cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in soy sauce.
- Stir together beef broth and cornstarch until smooth. Drizzle over beef mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute or until thickened. Add green onions; cook 1 minute. Serve immediately over rice.
Notes
Chilling the beef in the freezer for 5 minutes will make it easier for you to cut into very thin slices. And if you like hot Asian food, add 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper to the beef along with the green onions-that'll snap your taste buds to attention!
