Here's one that's Not Your Regular Brisket. Our change of pace recipe for brisket has a true touch of sweet, almost like a German and Dutch holiday style treat.
What You'll Need
- 3 1/2 to 4 pounds beef brisket, trimmed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 (20-ounce) can unsweetened apple slices, drained
What to Do
-
Place brisket fat side up in a large pot or baking pan. Add water, soy sauce, and pepper; cover and simmer 2-1/2 to 3 hours.
-
Add onion, green pepper, raisins, brown sugar and apple slices; simmer 30 to 40 minutes more. Remove brisket and slice.
-
Serve, covered with pan juices.
Notes
You can substitute a couple of sliced fresh apples for the canned. You can also add a touch of hot pepper sauce or garlic to heat up the recipe.
