America isn't the only place where people love Sloppy Joes. Check out this Spanish dish that's a lot like ours, but with a little more pizzazz.
What You'll Need
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium-sized onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
- 1 can (14½ ounces ) whole peeled tomatoes, undrained, broken up
- 1/2 cup chopped pimiento-stuffed olives
- 1/2 cup raisins, soaked in warm water
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
What to Do
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and onion and brown the beef until no pink remains. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the mixture is warmed through.
Notes
I suggest serving this over rice. And you might want to add a bit of zing to your meal by adding a few drops of hot pepper sauce.
