Looking to see your family's eyes widen in amazement? Then you're in luck because we've put a special twist on this basic bread recipe with a secret ingredient... jalapeƱo! With just a touch of somethin' spicy, this dinner roll recipe goes from "hum" to "yum" in no time. We've even added one of our favorite ingredients, cheese, to round it out to the perfect side dish for your meal.
What You'll Need
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup pickled jalapeno slices, chopped
- 1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
What to Do
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Cut butter into flour with a pastry blender or 2 forks; stir in whipping cream just until moistened. Stir in jalapenos and cheese just until blended.
-
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead dough 6 or 7 times. Roll or pat dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a 1-1/2-inch round cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake 18 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.
Notes
Have these biscuits for breakfast to jump-start your day, or you can enjoy them alongside a bowl of chili.
