Sometimes we want something just a little more hearty than a plain old piece of bread. This meaty loaf, called chigola, will fill you up - but you'll still be asking for more!
What You'll Need
- 1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 pound assorted Italian cold cuts, chopped
- 15 slices pepperoni, chopped
- 3/4 cup (3 ounces) shredded Italian cheese blend
What to Do
- On a lightly floured surface, slightly roll out or stretch the dough. Drizzle the oil over the top and sprinkle with the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Scatter the remaining ingredients over the dough and knead until thoroughly combined.
- Shape into a round loaf and place on a large rimmed baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degree F. Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden.
Notes
Any type of cold cuts can be used. Try your choice of salami, ham, or a combination of both.
