Sweet 'n' Spicy Cornbread puts a new spin on good ol' classic corn bread. With spicy green chili peppers and brown sugar, this spicy-sweet corn bread recipe is sure to be a satisfying accompaniment to any Southern-style meal. What You'll Need

  • 3 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 (4.5-ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well. Pour batter into prepared pie plate.
  3. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool 5 to 10 minutes, then slice into wedges and serve warm.

Note

For an added treat, slather on the butter and finish this off with a drizzle of honey.
