What You'll Need
- 1 (18 -ounce) package chocolate cake mix
- 1 (4-serving) package instant chocolate pudding and pie filling
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 (16-ounce) container milk chocolate frosting
What to Do
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two 9-inch round cake pans with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, sour cream, oil, eggs, and water; mix well and pour into cake pans. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Allow to cool slightly then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, beat heavy cream 8 to 10 minutes, or until very thick. Add half of frosting; mix well and chill filling until cake is cooled.
- Place one cake layer on a serving platter; spread with filling. Place second cake layer over first and frost top and sides with remaining frosting. Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.
