Sure, you can buy bottled teriyaki sauce in the stores. And sure, they taste great. But if you're out of it, or if you feel like making your own to wow the gang, here it is!
What You'll Need
- 1 can (14 ounces) ready-to-serve beef broth
- 3/4 cup coarsely chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoon honey
- 1 (2- to 3-pound) chicken, cut into quarters or eighths
What to Do
- In a large bowl, combine the beef broth, onion, garlic powder, soy sauce, lemon juice, and honey; mix well. Add the chicken pieces, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the grill to medium heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, discarding any remaining marinade.
- Grill the chicken for 30 to 40 minutes, turning the chicken frequently to prevent burning, until no pink remains and the juices run clear.
Notes
You can prebake the chicken in the oven by placing the pieces in a 9" x 13" baking pan and baking them for 25 to 30 minutes at 350°F. Then grill the chicken for just 10 to 15 minutes to crisp it up. This marinade can be used with flank steak, too. Give it a try!
