Looking for a fruity dessert with lots of warm, melt-in-your-mouth, mouth-watering flavors? Boy, have we got the perfect one for you: Maple Walnut Pears!
What You'll Need
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 4 firm pears, peeled, cored, and cut in half lengthwise (see Note)
- 3 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped walnuts
- Vanilla Ice cream
What to Do
- Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over low heat; add oil. Increase heat to medium-high. Place pear halves, cut sides down, in pan. Cook 3 minutes or until golden.
- Reduce heat to medium; add maple syrup and brown sugar. Cook 6 minutes or until pears are tender. Remove from heat; stir in nuts.
- To serve, place 2 pear halves on each of 4 dessert plates; drizzle each evenly with remaining syrup mixture in pan. Top each with ice cream. Serve dessert immediately.
Notes
Bosc or red Bartlett pears are recommended for this recipe because their sturdier shape holds up well when cooked. To prevent discoloration, peel and cut pears just before cooking.
