Imagine carving canned pineapple right in front of the kids! Sound crazy? Well, this is a sure way to put smiles on those little faces, and magic on your table.
What You'll Need
- 2 (20 ounce each) cans pineapple slices
- 1 (4-serving size) package lime-flavor gelatin mix
What to Do
-
Open pineapple cans cleanly and drain pineapple syrup, saving syrup for another use and leaving slices in cans.
-
Prepare gelatin in a glass bowl according to package directions. Let cool at room temperature about 20 minutes.
-
Pour half of gelatin into first can of pineapple slices. Place handle of a wooden spoon into center of slices to loosen slices so that gelatin is able to flow between them. Repeat with second can and remaining gelatin. Chill 4 to 5 hours, until well set.
- When ready to serve, carefully cut open bottom of each can and run a butter knife around edge of each can; push out pineapple "roll" and cut between each slice. Arrange slices on a platter by themselves or place around cooked ham, chicken, or other dishes.
