What You'll Need
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 8 tablespoon (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
- 2 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 cup milk
- 5 large apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans, almonds, or walnuts
What to Do
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and baking soda.
- In another large bowl, cream softened butter until light and fluffy. Beat in sugar; beat in eggs, one at time. Stir in dry ingredients and milk alternately. Stir in chopped apples and nuts. Pour into prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 55 minutes to 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool to room temperature.
- Cut into squares or spoon into bowls and top with whipped cream or ice cream.
