Lunch Box Philly Pita
- SERVES
- 4
If I told you it was possible to make a Philly cheese sandwich hours in advance and wrap it up to be microwaved right before eating, you probably wouldn't believe it. Well, believe me - and give it a try!
What You'll Need
- 1 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup (4 ounces) finely shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 (2.8-ounce) container French-fried onions
- 4 (6-inch) pita breads, each cut in half
What to Do
- In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except the bread; mix well.
- Place equal amounts of the mixture in each pita half. Wrap each half in waxed paper, then heat and serve, or chill until ready to serve.
- When ready to serve, heat in the microwave until heated through and the cheese is melted.
Notes
These can also be unwrapped and heated in a 350 degree F. oven on a baking sheet for a few minutes, but they make a perfect brown bag lunch, since microwaves can now be found in most offices and lunch rooms. In minutes you'll be enjoying a hot Philly cheese steak sandwich!
