What's more fun than a big ol' lobster boil? Just gather some friends and hang out while you boil an entire meal in one steamin' pot. With our recipe for New England Lobster Boil, it's always a party. Oh, and don't forget the melted butter!
What You'll Need
- 4 medium potatoes, washed and quartered
- 2 tablespoon salt
- 4 ears of corn, husked
- 4 live Maine lobsters (1 to 1-1/2 pounds each)
What to Do
- Fill a 12-quart stock pot with 2 inches water; add the potatoes and salt and bring to a rapid boil over high heat; continue boiling for 10 minutes.
- Add the corn and lobsters, then cover and steam for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the lobsters are bright red and the corn and potatoes are tender.
- Remove from the pot and serve.
Notes
If you don't have an extra-large stock pot, then you can split up the ingredients and cook 1 or 2 servings at a time in a regular soup pot. Oh - make sure to have lobster crackers on hand for cracking open the shells (the kitchen gadgets, I mean - not crackers that you eat!), and serve with lemon wedges and plenty of melted butter.
