Black Gold Snack Mix
- MAKES
- 12 cups
- COOK TIME
- 1 Hr
Finding a bowl of this snack mix in your family room is almost as good as finding oil in your backyard...so make sure to always have some of this on hand. (Okay, we admit it. This is really good, but we'd rather find oil!)
What You'll Need
- 3 cup oven-toasted corn or rice cereal
- 2 cup corn chips
- 1 cup unsalted mini pretzels
- 2 cup mini cheese sandwich crackers
- 1 cup fish-shaped cheese crackers
- 1 (10-ounce) can unsalted mixed nuts
- 1 cup shelled pumpkin or sunflower seeds
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 1/4 cup cayenne pepper sauce
- 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoon dry chili seasoning mix
What to Do
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, combine cereal, corn chips, pretzels, sandwich and cheese crackers, nuts, and seeds; set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, heat remaining ingredients over medium heat 3 to 4 minutes, or until butter melts, stirring frequently. Pour over snack mix and toss to coat well.
- Spread onto 2 large rimmed baking sheets and bake 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm or let cool completely then place in an airtight container and keep sealed at room temperature.
Notes
Some toasted corn and rice cereals are a combination of both flavors, so it's okay to use one of those types, or even use half corn and half rice cereals.
