What You'll Need
- 2 pounds fresh or frozen white flesh fish (like cod or halibut) fillets, thawed and skinned
- 2 cups mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 cups diced celery (4 stalks)
- 1 medium-sized red bell pepper, diced (about 2/3 cup)
- 1/2 cup cocktail sauce
What to Do
-
Preheat the oven to 400 degree F.
-
Place fish in a 9" x 13" baking dish that has been coated with nonstick vegetable spray and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until it flakes evenly with a fork; set aside to cool.
-
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, 1/2 teaspoon dillweed, white pepper, celery, red peppers, and 1/8 teaspoon lemon juice; mix well. Flake fish into the mayonnaise mixture. Mix well.
-
Serve with cocktail sauce. (See Note)
Notes
To serve, place the dip on a 10-inch serving plate and make an indentation in the center that's big enough to hold the cocktail sauce. Pour the sauce into the indentation. Cover and chill until ready to serve; serve chilled with saltine crackers.

Omg, this recipe sounds so good! At first, when looking at the picture, I thought for sure I was looking at the ham salad that I loved eating with club crackers when I was growing up...what a pleasant surprise to see that it's got my favorite fish in it! Some fresh bagel chips or crostini would be another great option to compliment this spread.

I don't know that I've ever had a dip with fish in it, but I'd like to try something different for a dip. I'm tired of 7 layer dip and spinach/artichoke. Those are good, but I'm ready for something new!

I think the word "salad" was a miss statement. Its obviously a spread. What the heck is everyone so confused about?

I think that I agree with those that are confused about the salad part. The recipe itself sounds good as a spread or dip but, Salad?

Just saw this one, sounds good but what do you mean by salad? It is a spread, right? So, crackers, bagel rounds, cocktail bread makes sense to me but the salad thingy has me confused......

Step number 3 is the salad!! Place it on the plate and pour cocktail sauce in an indention that you make in the middle of the salad - I would say 1-2 Tbsp. per plate.

I need a picture or a video of how to put this together. What is the "salad" which is spoken of? Do you put the mayo mix on a plate and the seafood sauce in the middle? I'm confused on this one.
