I have made this several times over the years. It's always popular. It can be served hot out of the oven, or cold out of the fridge, or taken to a party and kept in a cooler with ice packs until it's about to be served. It's good for the holidays because the fried onions, sour cream, cream cheese and pepperoni (along with crackers) are always on sale around the holidays.
