You don't have to get all dressed up to enjoy a dinner that's as stylish as it is tasty. Your guests will think you went through a lot of fuss to make this Stylish Beef Stroganoff. Truth is, it'll only take you 15 minutes, and there'll hardly be any dishes to wash!
What You'll Need
- 1 pound boneless beef tri-tip (bottom sirloin), cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 pound mushrooms, cut into -inch slices (about 3 cups)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup ready-to-use beef broth
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 pound egg noodles, cooked according to package directions
What to Do
- In a large skillet that has been coated with cooking spray, brown the beef with the salt and pepper over medium-high heat for 3 to 5 minutes or until no pink remains. Remove the meat and all but 2 teaspoons of the pan juices to a medium-sized bowl; set aside.
- Sauté the mushrooms and onion for 4 to 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in the flour then add the broth, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
- Return the beef and juices to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until heated through. Serve over noodles with a dollop of sour cream over each serving.

For a real quickie I also use ground beef. I also use cream of mushroom soup with mustard to taste in the soup. Fry the beef, add the soup mixture aand then the sour cream. Serve over noodles. Taste really good and soooo easy and fast. I used to slice my own steak , etc., but got lazy and got this recipe from my preacher's wife. I will never go back to the other wy. Too much work!

I used beef stew meat. I browned the meat then put it in a crockpot on low with the beef broth overnight. The next day I completed the recipe as stated. The meat came out tender and flavorful. Rather than top each serving with sour cream I mixed it in with other ingredients right before serving. Excellent recipe and very easy!

Been making this receipe for years, but called it "Poor Man's Stroganoff" as I'd use ground beef. Also added about a 1/4 cup dry Sherry ! ! Anxious to try sirloin (or beef tri tips).

I cook my beef cubes in the gravy for at least 90 minutes, even 2 hours. And put the mushrooms in during the last 1/2 hr so they don't disintegrate in the recipe.

Some cuts of meat need to be cooked longer in order to be tender. However, in this recipe, we used beef tri-tip, which is sirloin. That is a cut of meat that does not need to be cooked like stew meat. It is a cut that will be tender after our recommended cooking time. Thank you for your comments!

I used boneless loin pork chops, which I cubed. I quickly sauteed the meat and onions, added chicken broth and simmered for an hour till tender. The end result was quite delicious.
