Ugly Cake

When we first turned this cake out of the pan we didn't think we were going to like it. It didn't look very good, but the taste was incredible! So we gave it a whole new look by topping it with dollops of whipped topping and some gummy worms. Now it tastes great and looks great!
What You'll Need
- 1 (21 ounce) can blueberry pie filling
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed
- Gummy worms for garnishing
What to Do

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 10-inch Bundt pan with cooking spray.

In a blender, puree blueberry pie filling until smooth. In a large bowl, combine pie filling, cake mix, eggs, oil, and vanilla; beat with an electric mixer about 2 minutes on medium speed.

Stir in walnuts and pour into prepared Bundt pan. Bake 50 to 55 minutes until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool slightly then remove from pan and continue cooling on a wire cooling rack. Before serving, top with dollops of whipped topping and decorate with gummy worms.
Notes
We usually use walnuts here, but shelled pecans and pistachios give it a different delicious taste!

Pumpkin pie filling work. I have a recipe like this using pumpkin. Not my favorite tho.

I will make as recipe states but add some lemon zest as I always use lemon and blueberry together. Brings out the flavor of the berries

I just made this with cherry pie filling, as I didn't have blueberry in the pantry. It's delicious and moist! I left out the nuts and made a bit of simple syrup with almond flavoring, and soaked some into the cake. Absolute perfection! What a great idea to use pie filling for flavor and moistness!

used white cake mix. & left yolks out. cake was so good. & much more attractive!!

Made this last week. Awesome tasting! I just sprinkled powdered sugar over mine. Will definitely make it again! Makes a great "breakfast" cake with coffee!

I made this ugly cake 2 days ago - a waste of a can of blueberry pie filling. The color was Ugly - but that was not a problem - not a taste of blueberries - not a distinctive flavor of any kind - just a not very impressive tasting cake. Not a keeper. VS

I wissh you had shown a photo of the Ugly Cake. I have an Ugly cake recipe over 30 years old and the ingredients are totally different. The cake I bake is beautiful until; it is cooled 5 minutes, it is then indeed UGLY but the taste is AWESOME.
