Grandma always got it right when it came to serving up the creamiest mashed potatoes you've ever tasted. Lucky for you, we've figured out what makes hers so good, so you can enjoy Grandma's Mashed Potatoes anytime!
What You'll Need
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 cups buttermilk (see note)
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (22-ounce) package frozen mashed potatoes
What to Do
- In a soup pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, melt butter. Add garlic and saute 1 minute. Add buttermilk, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Cook 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring constantly. Stir in potatoes until smooth.
Notes
Buttermilk replaces some of the butter in these potatoes with outstanding results. And though buttermilk seems richer and creamier than regular milk, it actually has the same fat content as the whole, low-fat, and nonfat milks from which it is made.

Great addition to my "Emergency" shelf/freezer meals. Very handy on hectic nights, i.e. unexpected visitors.)
