I make this with the Mexican flavor Velveeta, it gives the dish that extra little something to make you say yum.

Can you use fresh broccoli instead of frozen?

Hello! Yes, you can use fresh broccoli instead of frozen. We suggest blanching the broccoli first for 2 minutes in boiling water. This will soften the broccoli, so it won't be hard after 30 minutes of cooking. Enjoy!

can you use shredded cheddar cheese instead of processed? I don't care for processed ingredients

Hi! Thanks for your great question! Yes, you can use shredded cheese instead of processed cheese, but you probably should add cup of milk also to help make it creamier like the original recipe. Enjoy!

*ONE cup of milk. Sorry about that!

Velveeta for sure! Cheese whiz is to salty, and is good on a philly cheese steak, or on a hot dog with tomato wedges

Good question Sheelah0: I was wondering the same thing...Velveeta or Cheese Whiz? I would think either one can be used for tasty results.

When you say processed cheese spread - do you mean Velveeta or Cheese Whiz?
