I made this twice. The first time as with the recipe except I knew it would need to have more salt so I so I added salt and pepper to taste. I changed to make it more like a pudding for the second round. I added 2/3 cup more cream (I also use 40% as I don't like sissy cooking), added one beaten egg, and added 1/2 stick butter melted to toss the croutons, mixed it all together; I topped with 1/4 c ground cornflakes and away we went and had 'mushroom pudding'. I retained all the other ingredients. Either way it's a show stopper for company

I commented above on the mushroom crisp. I forgot to add that I used it as a 'starch' with grilled chicken first, and with grilled salmon for the second.

Who cares how you changed the recipe? I believe comments are supposed to be about the EXACT recipe used by Mr. Food.

Noah11 I appreciate when people leave comments about what changes they made gives me ideas on how I too may alter the recipe to suit my tastes. I look at many of these recipes as a "base" to which I can add ingredients I like, or subtract ones that I can't eat or dislike. Many people look at a recipe this way as a starting point to customize to their tastes!

I'm doing the low carb thing so I substituted the croutons for a crumble I made with butter, garlic powder, and garbanzo bean flour. It was very nice!

I used 1 cup of 2% milk and 1 beaten egg rather than the heavy cream and Worchestershire Sauce for the steak sauce. I combined the milk, egg, salt, garlic powder together and then mixed with the bread crumbs and saute' mushrooms (rather than pouring over ) and put in a greased pan. It was GREAT!!
