I have made a from scratch recipe similar to this for years. It's great when my husband is out of town or I need a quick treat for the two of us. I also take it on vacation and when we're on our sailboat. Using a cake mix will makes it much easier cleanup. I never thought of using it for a gift. I've been a Mr Food fan for years and even though I am also a professional chef, I use lots of Mr Food's tips and shortcuts and everyone thinks I'm so smart and work so hard.

How would you adjust this recipe to make it a cake?

Since we have not tried making this into a full cake in the Test Kitchen, we can not give you the adjustments. It is something we can look into trying and once we do, we will share the results with you. Thank you!

Either will work fine, but you might want to go with a 12-ounce just in case it spills over while cooking. Enjoy!

I love this idea. I work at a school with lots of female friends. What a great idea as a b-day gift that doesn't cost very much but they would all love it. Don't need a whole cake to eat. Get cups from garage sales and you have a really nice and thoughtful gift that is inexpensive. Love, Love, Love it. Thanks, Karen
