I love cabbage and I could eat it steamed with a little salt and pepper and served with a little vinegar on the plate. However, slaw is my second favorite and I love this recipe. This one does not call for pickles and I hope I like the taste.

The hubby ususally prepares the slaw in our house. I can never get it right even with a recipe. I found a bottle mix in the grocery and he hated it so that is out. So with this recipe, I will give it another shot. He can not outdo me in the kitchen so I have to find a recipe that trumps his.

Hi Fred! Unfortunately, we don't know a way to keep coleslaw from becoming watery the next day. If you find out the answer, be sure to let us know! :) Happy New Year!

If you lightly salt the cabbage first, placing it in a colander, put a plate on it and weigh it down with a heavy pot, it will wilt and release extra moisture. Give it a couple of hours. I also do this when making cucumber salad!

I've never had slaw become soupy the next day, and I believe it's because I've never used milk in it. I add vinegar (various types) and a bit of lemon juice, but no milk. Never soupy.

1/4 cup of sugar equals 4 tablespoons. That's too much! The vinegar and sugar should balance out. I use 1 Tbs. vinegar and 1 Tbs. sugar or sugar substitute. Omit milk entirely, and add 1/2 tsp. celery seed (optional). From "Better Homes and Gardens " "Good Food on a Budget".

This is a nice inoffensive recipe bring along to a picnic. It tastes exactly like you'd expect coleslaw to taste.

One of the easiest cole slaws recipes to prepare and tastes great. I just shred half head cabbage instead of buying bagged cole slaw mix

I found this recipe to be much too sweet for my taste. I added extra vinegar, celery salt , garlic powder and dill weed. Had a much better taste.

This is a good basic coleslaw recipe that's ready to dress-up anyway you like it. The dried cranberries sound really good. Adding pineapple tidbits gives it a slightly sweet edge too :)

To add more flavor in this coleslaw, I have found if you add celery seed to this recipe it's awsome. Mary Ellen
