B.L.T. Salad? Sound different? It is and, yep, it tastes just like a B.L.T. sandwich on toast. It's the answer for a quick, light lunch get-together.
What You'll Need
- 1 head of iceberg or romaine lettuce, shredded (about 8 cups)
- 2 large tomatoes, chopped (about 2 cups)
- 1 pound bacon, cooked to crisp, crumbled
- 2 cups seasoned croutons
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
What to Do
-
Place lettuce on bottom of a large salad bowl. Layer over that tomatoes, crumbled bacon, and croutons.
- In a blender on medium-high speed, blend mayonnaise, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Just before serving, pour dressing over salad but don't toss it! (That'll ruin its super look. See Note.)
Note
Dig down to the bottom of the bowl when serving, so you'll be sure to have some of each layer in every portion.

I have tasted, and loved, a version of this salad sold at a local restaurant. I am happy to see the recipe, since the restaurant and the salad are now gone from this area. I will try this within the next couple of days.

Would it change the taste to simply mix the salad with the dressing if you are not concerned about the "super look"?

I've been making this salad for over 20 years for my husband and myself. The only difference is I make it in individual salad bowls, and then each of us can mix up the dressing with the lettuce, tomato, bacon, and croutons all at once, or a little at a time - as we wish. Individual servings are a great way to control the amount of bacon and croutons we each are having.
