What You'll Need
- 1 (16-ounce) package dried split peas
- 1 pound cooked ham, diced
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 4 potatoes, peeled and diced
- 4 carrots, diced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
What to Do
- Place all ingredients in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on HIGH setting 6 hours or on LOW setting 10 hours, or until peas are tender and soup is thick. Remove and discard bay leaf. Serve immediately.
