I usually use water about 1/2 way up the artichoke. Also sprinkle with parm when they come out. Squeeze it as you sprinkle so that the cheese gets down between the leaves.

I love artichokes and eat them almost every day when they are in season. I usually steam them in an electric steamer and add lemon juice to the butter. Yum!!

How do you "trim" the artichokes?? I have eaten them, and they are really good! But, I have Never prepared them. Would like to learn how to do this. Thanks!

I usually cut off the stems and about an inch from the tops so that they are flat, and then use kitchen shears (or scissors) to clip the sharp edges off the leaves. Then I will peel the leaves off that I know will not have much "meat" in them by hand. Place in my steamer and steam for about 32-37 minutes. Hope this helps. You probably would need to see a demo.
