In pastry shops all over Europe you can find these delicate, crisp pastries that are rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Now they're easy to make at home. Hooray!

What You'll Need

  • 2 frozen puff pastry sheets (from a 17 ¼-ounce package), slightly thawed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.

  2. On a lightly floured surface, with a rolling pin, roll out each pastry sheet to 12- x 12-inches.

  3. In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar. Brush pastry sheets with beaten egg and sprinkle 3 tablespoons of cinnamon mixture evenly over top of each sheet.

  4. Roll one side of pastry sheet into middle then roll other side to meet it in middle, forming a scroll. Cut 1/2-inch slices across scrolls.

  5. Dip one cut side into cinnamon mixture and lay sugared-side up on prepared baking sheet. Bake 20 minutes then let cool for 5 minutes.

Notes

  • These should be stored in an airtight container or cookie jar. They shouldn't be refrigerated or frozen.

I can't wait to try out your version of our 'palmito'. My husband and I spent some time in Denver over 40 years ago and during that time (when he was at the office) I tried out all kinds of sweets. Now is my chance to make them for my children and brandschilderen as well.

These are not elephant ears. These are palmiers.

But how was the recipe?? Everyone is talking about printers. This is for reviews of recipes!!

You could just hit the print preview and it will let you see what will print or you can resize it and print the pages you want.

Or you could do a "control P" and just say you want to print page 1.

To nanawillie, yes, that is very frustrating. Just left click on the title and while holding the button down, drag the mouse to the end of the recipe then release, highlighting the area you want to print. Then click on FILE in the top toolbar. Click on PRINT, then click SELECTION. Click PRINT and you should get only the recipe and not the ad. Good luck!

THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE RECIPE BUT............I LIKE YOUR SITE BUT AM SOOOOOOOOOO TIRED OF USING UP MY PAPER AND INK WITH THE "HOME BAKING GIFT PKG." AD YOU KEEP SHOOTING OUT TO ME WHEN I WANT TO PRINT A RECIPE. ONE COPY IS FAR ENOUGH AND WITH THE AGGRAVATION I FEEL TOWARDS THIS I WILL NOT ORDER IT ANYWAY.

When I click on the print button that is right underneath the title of "Mini Elephant Ears", it only printed the recipe itself and no ads. Even when I use my toolbar under "file" and look at "print preview", it shows only the recipe and no ads. I hope your problem was addressed here on the site or that you somehow resolved it. You can also copy and paste into a WORD file and then delete the parts you don't want.
