New Year's Eve is most certainly time for a celebration. Getting together with friends and family to reflect back and to make resolutions for a brand new year ahead are just a few reasons why we enjoy this holiday so much.
With that in mind, it's important to remember to stay responsible while having a good time. We found some helpful tips thanks to USA.gov that are easy to remember and a good guideline to have a safe and happy New Year.

If you're hosting a New Year's Eve party:
- Plan ahead by making someone the "designated driver." Make this your responsibility as the host.
- Contact a local cab company to provide rides for your guests.
- Give your guests non-alcoholic options.
- Stop serving alcohol to your guests several hours before the party ends.
- Provide your guests with a place to stay overnight in your home.
If you're attending a New Year's Eve party:
- Keep an eye on your drink at all times. If you go to the bathroom, ask a close friend to hold it or take it with you!
- Never go alone. Bringing a friend isn't just safer, it's more fun!
- If you drink, don't drive.
- Plan ahead and always designate a sober driver before the party or celebration begins.
- If you are impaired, call a taxi, use mass transit, or get a sober friend or family member to come pick you up.
- Or, stay where you are until you are sober.
- Take the keys from someone if you think he/she is too impaired to drive.
