This Easy One-Pot Goulash is a great weeknight dinner dish that your whole family will love. It's ready for eatin' in less than 30 minutes, and it's filled with tons of hearty, beefy flavor, so this one pot goulash is sure to become a family-favorite in no time. What You'll Need
- 1 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 (8-ounce) package uncooked elbow macaroni
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 (14-1/2-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
What to Do
- In a soup pot over high heat, brown ground beef with onion 6 to 8 minutes, or until no pink remains in the beef, stirring frequently.
- Stir in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, cover, and simmer 7 to 8 minutes, or until macaroni is tender. Serve immediately.

I can't believe how easy this was for something that is so tasty and satisfying! I did add some diced onion and a tablespoon of smoked paprika, though, and sprinkled a light topping of sharp cheddar on the top. Is it still goulash? lol

I have made this for years, as did my mom. Instead of beef broth, I use water, and the taste is still good. When the mixture boils I add 2 cups of frozen mixed vegetables (mom used peas an carrots), and when it comes to a boil again, I add the macaroni. When the pasta is done, it's ready to eat. For a little more tomato flavor you can use a bigger can of tomatoes or a bit of ketchup! This is my stand-by quick and nutritious meal.

Just finished making and trying this dish as is. Was very good. Next time will add some chili powder and maybe mix in some cheddar cheese at the end. Sure beats hamburger helper. lol

Super easy, fast, and yummy. I like more noodles than meat and making for two (with intentions of leftovers) so I only added one pound of ground beef (93% lean) and it was a perfect ratio for me. I may add some celery along with the onions next time.

I always rence the grease off of my hamburger with water. Because it's a healthier way to make one pot goulash. It tastes great this way too.

Can someone please tell me if you need to drain the grease after cooking the hamburger? I would like a opinion of someone that has drained the grease and one who has not if possible please and thank you

Yes, always drain grease after cooking hamburger unless there isn't any grease in bottom of pan. Nothing worse than greasy hotdish or sloppy joes. If you use 93% hamburger you may just use paper towel in pan to soak up the little bit of grease.

We had several kids over for a playdate, and I made this for dinner. It was so good, and got thumbs up, from all the kids, even my picky one! I ended up adding about 2/3 of a small can, or about 4 oz. of tomato paste, a round or two of Worcestershire, and as it sat, it got too thick, for our taste, so I continued to add beef stock, as we went. When I warmed it, the next day, for lunch, it was thicker, still, so I added more. Ended up using nearly 32 oz. of broth, all told. It was delicious, and will be put into regular rotation! So easy and almost no cleanup! Thanks!

how do you make 8 ounces of macaroni using measuring cups

Typically you would not measure the macaroni, you would weigh it. You can purchase macaroni in 8-ounce boxes or if you find a 16-ounce box, just use half. Thank you for your question!
