Cure your comfort food cravings with our Shortcut Chicken 'n' Dumplings recipe! Thanks to shortcut ingredients, we can put together a creamy dinner full of savory chicken, veggies, and plump dumplings in hardly any time at all! It'll really hit the spot!
What You'll Need
- 2 cups pulled rotisserie chicken
- 2 (10-3/4-ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (16.3-ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits, quartered (8 biscuits)
What to Do
- In a 4-quart or larger slow cooker, mix all ingredients except biscuits. Gently fold in biscuit pieces.
- Cover and cook on LOW 4 hours or on HIGH 2 hours, or until biscuits are firm; serve immediately.
Notes
- What makes this recipe so easy is that we can take advantage of so many of our market shortcuts. The chicken is pre-cooked, the frozen veggies are farm-fresh, cleaned, and cut, and the refrigerated biscuit dough is ready to just add.
- This has got it all, except of course, dessert! Staying with the comfort theme, how about our classic rice pudding to top off the meal!

Good and easy. Things I did differently Put the rotisserie chicken carcass in the instant pot and made the broth. Used crescent roll biscuit dough. They got rather mushy so next time ill use regular kind. My husband loved it!

I found this recipe years ago in Mr. Food's Simple Southern Favorites cookbook - By the late Art Ginsburg. That recipe was stove-top and had different ingredients. 1-pounds skinless boneless chicken breast halves cut into 2 inch chunks. (I cut them smaller) 2 14 ounce cans of chicken broth, 2 stalks of celery, thinly sliced, 1 cup water, 1/2 stick butter, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning, 1 tablespoon dry parsley, 3 chicken bouillon cubes and one 7 package refrigerated biscuits (10 biscuits) each biscuit quartered. But I cut them much smaller because they swell up so much, this is a great recipe.

My family's favorite. Will I be able to double it using 4 cans of cream of chicken I Soup and 4 cups of water? If so, how long do I cook it for. Thanks in advance.

Hi there! We're so glad your family loves this recipe! While we haven't tried doubling this recipe, we do believe it would work. It would take approximately 1 to 2 hours more to cook, and would require a larger slow cooker. If you give it a try, we'd love to know how it turns out!

I'll have to add these ingredients to my pantry. This would be very easy but filling comfort food. It looks creamy. I try to keep shredded chicken in the freezer, but sometimes run out. Rotisserie chicken would be good., though

This dish is so amazing, it was sooo good. It didnt seem like the biscuits would turn out very good, but they did. Next time I will use fresh veggies, I am not a fan of frozen. A few more veggies would be good. Thanks for the interesting recipe. Will make it for my son and family next time they come,

Definitely a Winner!! Even my picky eater LOVED it!!br /Tried it last night. Tripled the recipe, but only used 2 cans of cream of chicken soup. 2 cups of chicken stock with 4 cups of water. It took an extra 45 mins to cook, because I tripled it. But it was Amazing!br /A

Is there a substitute I can use instead of the cream of chicken soup

Hello - If you'd rather not use the cream of chicken soup, you can substitute with 2 cups of chicken broth for the water, and then use equal amounts of chicken gravy instead of the soup. Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to make it creamy. Enjoy!

I made this tonite with leftover chicken and it was surprisingly very good and easy. A bit heavy on the fat side so next time will look for fat-free soups and try a lite butter on the crust. We were surprised it came out as good as it did. However, it does make alot so if there are just two of you as in our case we have lots and lots of leftovers. Great for a potluck or communal feast.

"Campbell's" makes a 98% fat free 'Cream of Chicken' canned soup. I wish they also had a lower sodium choice, since 2 cans of this soup is extremely high in sodium. Nevertheless, this dish was tasty, and very easy to prepare.

I am making this now as I'm typing this. I've tried the broth and its delicious. Yes, you could make this whole thing from scratch. I used grilled frozen chicken out of the freezer section. Before I serve it up I'll cut up the meat and put it back in. It was on sale. My daughter wanted a can of cannelli beans in it and I added a just a little of poulty seasoning and garlic powder. The biscuits look great too. In 15 minutes, I'll have a wonderful soup (stew?). I didn't have the condensed cream of soup handy I had ready to use 3 lb. box of chicken broth so I used all of it and didn't add any water. If my kids don't stay out of the crock pot it will never finish. Smells so good in my kitchen right now.

Can this be made with non-cooked chicken? We put non-cooked chicken in the crock pot on other occasions.
