What You'll Need
- 4 (1-ounce) bars unsweetened baking chocolate
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
- 2 1/2 cups sugar, divided
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup chopped chocolate-coated caramel-peanut nougat bars
What to Do
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
-
In a large microwaveable bowl, place baking chocolate and butter. Microwave on high 2 to 2-1/2 minutes, stirring after each minute, until chocolate and butter are completely melted. Beat in 2 cups sugar, 3 eggs, and the vanilla, until blended. Stir in flour, then spread batter in prepared baking dish.
-
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, the remaining sugar, and remaining egg. Stir in candy. Drop by dollops over batter. With a knife, swirl the batter to the top to create a marbled effect.
- Bake 40 to 45 minutes, or just until set. Cool completely in baking dish on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

I want to make this I haven't seen any updated replies for many years. The baking bars I buy are 4 oz each...they don't come in 1 oz pkgs. I would think the recipe should say 1 ea 4oz pkg. Or am I reading this wrong? I can see where this can be confusing. Please reply. Thank you.

These bars were very good. They were moist and not overly sweet even after adding the two cups of sugar. I didn't change anything in the recipe. They were done about 5 minutes before the recipe said but could have just been my oven. I did notice even after spraying my pan with cooking spray they did stick to tha bottom of the pan. Perhaps greasing the pan and flouring it would help. I will try that next time. I will make again.

What other type of candy bar could be used that doesn't have peanuts in it? My nephew is allergic to nuts.

Is he allergic to peanuts or ALL nuts? I'm allergic to peanuts also, but can have pecans and walnuts. If he can normally eat Milky Way candy bars, you could substitute those. Then, add nuts (or not) depending on the extent of his allergy. Just BE CAREFUL...if trace amounts make him react, don't use any candy bar - they are all made in the same factory. You could make the ingredients yourself though! Good luck!

You can substitute any candy bar that is safe for your nephew to eat. Thank you for your question!

Fudge Cheesecake Bars sound just delicious and easy to prepare. These would be good to serve after church at the coffee hour. How many people don't like fudge or cheesecake... very few!! Thank you, Mr. Food!
