Wine in tea biscuits? Our melt-in-your-mouth novel Wine Biscuits will add a touch of fancy to any of your entertaining. These easy-to-bake wine tea biscuits have a flavor that'll make you the toast of the town.

What You'll Need

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Confectioners' sugar for sprinkling

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Coat baking sheets with cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, combine butter, wine, and granulated sugar until well blended. Add baking powder, salt, flour, and vanilla; mix until well blended. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.

  3. With a rolling pin, roll out the dough onto a floured board to a 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out the biscuits with a 2-inch cookie cutter. Place on baking sheets.

  4. Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Let biscuits cool 5 minutes.

  5. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

Makes about 5 dozen biscuits.

i USE LEFT OVER WINE red or white then freeze before baking another of my quick freezer supplies, love these with some jam an cream cheese mixed together on top and a cup of hot tea i sugest if you dont have a small toaster oven to buy one. Cooking up three or four of these when you are in need of a treat is better then stale crakers an cheese. CHECK your local department store for small oven KAG

We live in WNY - concord grape county. I used sweet red concord out of a BOX - yes a box of Gold Seal Mountain Lake Concord wine is always in my frig right next to my brie and extra sharp cheddar cheeses. I just patted out the biscuits inside a freezer bag rather than roll them out. No mess and they looked like Grandma made them rather than fussy pants Martha Stewart

What type of red wine do you suggest using in the Wine Biscuits?
