So, you've always wanted to know how to make a real old-fashioned chocolate malt? Well here it is! Our shortcut Chocolate Malted brings thick, creamy, diner-style malts to your very own kitchen.
What You'll Need
- 3 large scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1 bag (7 ounces) chocolate malted milk balls, crushed (see Note)
What to Do
- In a blender, combine all the ingredients and blend on high speed until thoroughly mixed. Pour into tall glasses and serve immediately.
Notes
Here's an easy way to crush the malted milk balls: Place them in a resealable plastic bag, close tightly, and crush with a rolling pin. You know, you can use whole milk, 2%, 1%, or skim milk - the choice is yours. And if you want to lighten it up, use low-fat frozen yogurt in place of the vanilla ice cream.

I worked at Woolworth's soda fountain when I was 15 back in the Stone Age so I know how to make malteds right. This sounds like it might work. It's hard to get the syrup these days.
