When we first tasted this layered recipe, we were really impressed 'cause we figured it must be really complicated. So, how come it's here? 'Cause it only tastes complicated! Black and White Napoleon Pudding's got a fancy name, but it's a no-fuss recipe favorite!

What You'll Need

  • 1 (4-serving size) package instant vanilla pudding and pie filling, prepared according to the package directions
  • 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (14.4-ounce) package chocolate-flavored graham crackers
  • 1 (16-ounce) container ready-to-spread chocolate frosting

What to Do

  1. In a medium bowl, combine prepared pudding and whipped topping. Place a single layer of graham crackers in bottom of a 9- x 13-inch baking dish. Top with one-third of pudding mixture.

  2. Repeat layers of graham crackers and pudding 2 more times, ending with a layer of graham crackers. Spread frosting over top, then cover and chill overnight, allowing graham crackers to soften. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Black and white or white and black, you can make it either way. So, maybe you'll wanna try this with regular graham crackers, chocolate pudding, and white frosting. Go ahead!

Well can we use honey graham crackers or is it must to use chocolate graham crackers

Hi there! While the chocolate flavored graham crackers give the Black and White Napoleon Pudding it's chocolate flavor, it is fine to substitute honey graham crackers.

Wow this recipe really helped we r totally making it in our practicaL....awesome

I have made this already and its not their recipe I made this past year !!!!

I could only get two layers of pudding and 3 layers of the graham crackers with the recipe ingredients and size of pan. The frosting is more dense than the pudding so it is difficult to spread the frosting on top of the pudding that is filling the space where the crackers are not. Also, my instant vanilla pudding mix turned the "white" to a pale yellow...so I didn't get the nice "black and white" affect.

Try warming the frosting a bit in the microwave to soften it. It spreads much easier that way.

there is a terrific instant pudding, white chocolate, which I used for this. left out 1/3C of milk....really had a great flavor. I used 8oz. of whipped topping, chilled overnight. the cutting was really clean & stacked dessert looked "neater". very delicious.

Very delicious ! I could not find any nutritional info on it however; not sure what to put on my diet page for calories, sugar, etc.

To get the nutritional information, add the information from each ingredient you use and then divide it by the number of servings you make. I do this all the time and it is fairly easy.

Can't find 12oz. cool whip anymore. Is anyone else having same prob?

This sounds like choc. eclair cake, I got from here and my family LOVES!!!!!!. Just different grahams crax. and pudding mx. I will try this also!

May I ask--where can you get chocolate graham crackers?

They are typically available right next to the other flavor graham crackers. If your store does not carry them, maybe try asking the store manager to order them for you. They are not an uncommon item. Thank you for your question!

Kroger stores usually carry chocolate graham crax

I made this using everything chocolate and also, banana pudding, reg graham crackers and cream cheese frosting. Both were sooo good!

I am going to give this a try soon. Looks delicious.

For low cal and for diabetics, use sugar free pudding, low cal whipped topping, less fat graham crackers, and no icing....delicious. My family calls this our light summer dessert.
