Good recipe... if u r going to be gone for the day, crockpots are the way to go, when you get home dinner is ready.. of course all crock pot recipes can all be made in the oven as well if you are home and able to watch it like all recipes you can add or change the ingredients as you wish ham bacon sausage milk instead of water is good but most crockpot recipes do not include milk as it may curdle during long cooking process

Why don't you guys who re write recipes start your own blogs? " I don't like this" or " I don't like that" or "this is fattening" Prepare the dish in accordance with the posted recipe, then if you like it, say so, if your not a fan, say so. Don't take apart someone's dish because you don't agree with it.

This is a healthy dish if you exclude the ham and the salt-cream of mushroom soup.

I use heavy whipping cream instead of cream of mushroom soup. I also use real bacon bits instead of ham and velvetta instead of american cheese. omit the water and top everything with crushed ritz crackers.

This was too runny for my liking. For my 2nd attempt I used 1% milk in place of water & cubed Velveeta in place of shredded cheddar. I liked that much better. My 3rd try I doubled everything & used Klondike rose potatoes. It takes like my grandma's recipe now. Oh, so good!

Ham and scalloped potatoes is a tradition at our house on Christmas day. I precook the potatoes, chunk them into a sprayed casserole along with cubes of ham. Make a white sauce, to which I add diced onions (can be green onions or white or both), salt and pepper, velveeta, and my secret ingredient.....Dijon mustard. (not rocket science, so amounts to your liking) Pour the sauce over the potatoes and ham and smudge in down and around. bake at 350 until bubbley and browned. I usually make this up the day before, refrig it and put it in the oven as we start opening gifts. Then, we have a yummy hot dish and I haven't had to spend my day in the kitchen and away from all the festivities. Works great for me, and the family loves and looks forward to "Mom's special ham and scalloped potatoes".
