It took a long time to cook even with small onions and they were edible but firm. I might try it again by parboiling them before baking them as suggested. Im just not thrilled with the recipe but Ill keep my mind open.

Oh, my goodness, this sounds and looks so good my mind has started to race just trying to figure out how many different dishes it would go with. I've never had anything quite like this before but I just love onion on or in anything...and think Parmesan would be a wonderful accompaniment for this dish. I've got a feeling this is a gonna be a favorite of mine for years to come and I can't wait to try it!

Amazing. I used to do the small boiling onions until I couldn't see, but these are much better and so easy! I used Vidalia onions. Highly recommend!

If you want to speed things up, using a microwaveable pan/dish/bowl, micro them for 10 minutes first to par-cook, then put into oven. They will get done much faster and will taste the same. I've done it both ways. I use glass baking pans. Also the times given are meant if you like your onions very soft and over-done. We like ours to be a little firm.

Are you supposed to flip them over when you put the cream on?
