It took a long time to cook even with small onions and they were edible but firm. I might try it again by parboiling them before baking them as suggested. Im just not thrilled with the recipe but Ill keep my mind open.

Oh, my goodness, this sounds and looks so good my mind has started to race just trying to figure out how many different dishes it would go with. I've never had anything quite like this before but I just love onion on or in anything...and think Parmesan would be a wonderful accompaniment for this dish. I've got a feeling this is a gonna be a favorite of mine for years to come and I can't wait to try it!

Amazing. I used to do the small boiling onions until I couldn't see, but these are much better and so easy! I used Vidalia onions. Highly recommend!

These are awesome.

What kind of onions are best to use for this recipe? White, yellow, Vidalia... ???

Hi there! We used yellow onions to make our Creamy Baked Onions. Enjoy!

If you want to speed things up, using a microwaveable pan/dish/bowl, micro them for 10 minutes first to par-cook, then put into oven. They will get done much faster and will taste the same. I've done it both ways. I use glass baking pans. Also the times given are meant if you like your onions very soft and over-done. We like ours to be a little firm.

Leave out the nutmeg and sprinkle some cheese on top.

I like nutmeg but not on onions. I think cheese will be perfect. Thanks.

Very good and definitely would make again.

Serving is one onion or two halves per person. People you aren't reading the recipe. It clearly states the instructions to follow! I've tried this before but lost my recipe glad you put it on your website. Happy Eating....

you may 2 halves, but must only eat a halve, also if you look at the picture it show 12 halves :(

If you have 8 onions cut in 1/2 won't you in up with 16 serving?

Yes, but if you cut 6 in half you will end up with 12 halves.

This was an easy and delicious recipe. Everyone enjoyed it and I would make it again.

These were so good and something different. Did these for Christmas and everyone wanted the recipe!

You say place onions cut side down, but your photo of the dish, show the cut side up right? Which is right, the photo, or your instructions?

Please re-read the recipe it says cut side up at the start!!!

Are you supposed to flip them over when you put the cream on?
