What You'll Need
- 12 caramel candies
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups water
- 3 eggs
- 1 (12-ounce) French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
What to Do
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat an 8-inch-square baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a saucepan over low heat, combine caramels, sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla, and salt, stirring occasionally until caramels melt. Remove saucepan from heat and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine water and eggs; beat well. Stir in caramel mixture. Add bread cubes and walnuts, and stir until evenly coated. Let stand 5 minutes, then stir again. Pour into prepared baking dish.
- Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
