Ever wonder what the difference is between white and brown sugar? If you have, watch the video above to hear Howard explain everything. Then, once you're done, get to making our Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon! If you want a great meal with less mess and fewer ingredients, look no further than this fantastic fish recipe.

What You'll Need

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 4 (4-ounce) salmon fillets
  • 1 (12-ounce) package broccoli slaw
  • 3 scallions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

What to Do

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, oil, vinegar, ginger, and garlic; stir in sugar. Heat 10 minutes or until sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally; remove from heat. (Mixture will thicken.) Reserve 1/2 cup soy sauce mixture and set aside.
  2. Brush both sides of salmon evenly with remaining soy sauce mixture; cover and let stand 10 minutes.
  3. Place salmon on grill. Cook 4 to 6 minutes on each side, or until fish flakes easily with a fork, brushing occasionally with soy sauce mixture during cooking.
  4. In a large bowl, toss together broccoli slaw, scallions, sesame seeds, and 1/4 cup of the reserved soy sauce mixture; mix well. Serve salmon with broccoli slaw and drizzle with remaining 1/2 cup reserved soy sauce mixture.

I've been wanting to branch out and try making more seafood, and this looks like the perfect kind of recipe to help me do that--not too complicated but still plenty unique.

I ran out of propane and cooked it in a frying pan. It was really good. I only made 1 piece of salmon. I froze the rest of the sauce and the salmon filet in individual serving baggies.

A very good recipe for Salmon. It grilled so nice and gave it such a good flavor. I was proud I could make this and so easy. I have a new appreciation for Salmon.. I will be making this again.

Looks yommy yommy, delicious

Not into sugar on my fish.... Oil, butter lemon juice, garlic, herbs spices that is all good but not ginger cinnamon allspice nutmeg or sugars or syrups or honey on my fish. we like a cleaner purer taste on seafood Do not like coconut on my shrimp either But hey, that's just me! I guess many people DO like sweet taste on their seafood

I appreciate hearing comments on a recipe after it has been prepared and consumed. Using this venue for listing your personal dislikes of particular ingredients is useless information. Put that stuff on your facebook page. Thank you.

Looks very good.
